Life is good for me right now. A couple weeks ago, I took the ACT for the first time. I didn’t study because my councilors recommended that you take the first one without studying as a benchmark. This morning, I got my results back. I am thrilled to say I got a 31! Beyond that, we’ve received offers on the Flex, I’ve been having a great time at the CWS games with friends, my boss told me that I’ve been doing good work so far (but drive the gator slower!) and this weekend I leave for Chicago in a rental while my car goes in to the shop to get fixed. By next week, my dad will likely have a new car of some sort. Chicago Opponents, I’ll try to be at the Downer’s Grove cruise again this coming weekend. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and look forward to meeting more of you this year! Rock on Oppo!

That's what trashed my score. I can't write for shit. I would have done way better if I didn't have to do that. Ah well, still above the national average.

Yup. For me it’s math. I fucking hate math.

I got a 32the first time. Aced the math and science sections perfectly. THen english kicked my ass. Writing was good though. Basically if you get above 30, you can be eligible for scholarships at most colleges without a top-tier NCAA program.

You’re talking to the guy who had to redo second semester of freshman algebra and had to redo first semester of junior algebra 2. Math sucks so much . How I got the score I did in math, I don't know.

Congrats on the score, but you don’t get to hate math and be a car guy. Or hate math and be non broke. If you scored that high on your first attempt, and your math score was noticeably lower than verbal, spend your prep time on math where you have more room to gain, and blow the next one out of the water.

This is good news. I was the opposite. English was good, math beat me up and took my lunch money.

I failed of of PreAlg in 6th grade, then out of H. Geometry last year. I’m on to regular Calc next year.

But most ACT scores are only valid if you have the writing portion, just keep that in mind.

When we went through it in our “guidance session” it showed that only colleges like Harvard, Stanford, and Georgetown need the writing portion to consider the test valid.

When I did it in 2006, UofM, MSU, OSU, and Purdue reps said that only ACT scores with writing portions were eligible for scholarships. I’dask around on your own. Oakland, my local university, did not require them and offered me a full ride with my courseload in high school and 31 on the ACT with no writing. But I declined because oakland was NOT the school for me and retook it with writing to get the 32......at a private college that also didn’t care about the writing but anyways.....
